Aaah the background check. It’s one of the necessary steps that hires need to complete to officially become an employee. Over 75% of organizations incorporate screening into their talent acquisition process, but the question is – where?

While it used to be standard for screening to hit either right before or after the interview, employers are shifting it further and further back in the hiring process. This can be attributed to Ban the Box philosophies, increased focus on compliance with the EEOC and FTC, or the additional costs incurred for conducting background checks. Either way, when you boil it down, companies want to be sure that the person they’re screening is the best possible fit for the role, and fully engaged with the company before investing the time, effort, and additional resources required for hire.
